Jonathan, often called Slim, is one of the up and coming San Diego aquarists that TLA is proud to have on the team. His first contact with the team was as a customer. He and his girlfriend came in often, always excited and always doing something new. He kept up to 9 beautiful aquariums at a time while exploring new areas of the hobby and working full time as a master baker. Soon he and Doug became friends, enjoying tanks and beers together from time to time. Eventually, Slim left the bakery and started helping out around the store.
Now he is a full-time fish nut at TLA, and has ventured into saltwater, further increasing his knowledge and ability to help his customers. His love for the hobby has driven his desire for knowledge, as he is always reading about something new. His new passion has even ignited his desire to go back to school.
He has been with us for almost a year now and we’re happy to watch his knowledge and enthusiasm grow, as he becomes a more valuable member of the team every day. Sissy and I have thoroughly enjoyed having Slim as a friend and teammate, and we look forward to watching him progress in the coming years.
When Slim isn’t slaying algae, drooling over corals or servicing aquariums, he likes to hike around San Diego, rock climb, and fish in the local lakes and streams.
